Frequently asked questions

Scheduled courses are usually run at least once a month. If you would like to be added to a mailing list to be informed of future course dates as soon as they are decided, email info@carolynbarton.co.uk and ask to be added to the list. Private courses can be held on dates to suit you, subject to availability.

You will get a certificate when you have finished the course (attended all live sessions for remote delivery or classroom courses, or studied all pages for online courses), satisfactorily completed all exercises, passed the exam and paid the course fee.

Yes. When you finish the exam you will have the option to review your answers - you will see which questions you got right and which you answered incorrectly. This will help you see whether there are any areas where you may need to study the provided resources before having another attempt. You will not necessarily get the same questions on the next attempt. If you are struggling with any aspect, individual recap sessions can be arranged by Zoom at no additional cost.

If you have just missed a short section, the bit you have missed will be repeated, usually at the end of that day. If you have missed a larger section, where possible this may be repeated at a mutually convenient time, or you may be given the option of joining a later course to cover that section. All parts of the course need to be attended to gain certification.

Scheduled courses are run on UK time (GMT in the winter, or BST in the summer). However, if there are a group of you (minimum 3 people) and you are all in the same time zone, then you can have a private course at times to suit you.

Email support is available at any time. If you have a query, you are welcome to ask for advice. A response will usually be sent within 24 hours.

The course used to be completed in one full day, from 0900-1800. Over the years the JNCC guidelines have become more detailed, so there is more content to cover. The course also includes exercises to prepare trainees for the role they will be undertaking. Rather than sacrifice content or trim back the exercises, the course was extended to 1.5 days to maintain comprehensive training in the role of the MMO whilst still allowing plenty of opportunity for questions.
